Воробьев умер в понедельник, 19 февраля в возрасте 53 лет. Пока нет информации, связанной с причинами смерти. Также пока не сообщается дата похорон. В Союзе кинематографистов выразили слова соболезнования родным и близким сценариста.

Одной из самых значимых работ Воробьева является сценарий военно-исторического драматического фильма режиссера Александра Котта «Брестская крепость». Также он работал на телевизионной версией кинокартины «Крепость».
